Road to UFC featherweight prospect Young Jae Song has received a strong vote of confidence from UFC veteran Dong Hyun Kim and Havas MMA head coach Jung Won Lee as he prepares for the biggest fight of his career.
Following Young Jae Song‘s submission victory over Jin Aoi in the opening round of Road to UFC Season 5, Dong Hyun Kim and Jung Won Lee broke down his upcoming semifinal matchup on Chador MMA interview, offering insight into both his next opponent and his long-term UFC potential.
Song advanced to the Road to UFC Season 5 featherweight semifinals after defeating Jin Aoi by second-round rear-naked choke despite overcoming a point deduction earlier in the fight. The victory moved the Havas MMA standout one step closer to earning the coveted contract.
Dong Hyun Kim Has Trained With Song’s Next Opponent

During the analysis, Dong Hyun Kim revealed that he had previously met and trained alongside Song’s upcoming opponent, Mongolian featherweight Dagiisuren Chagnaadorj.
Kim explained that he encountered the fighter while filming in Mongolia and training at one of the country’s top MMA gyms.
While they did not engage in full sparring, Kim participated in wrestling and takedown drills with Chagnaadorj and came away impressed by his physical attributes.
According to Kim, the Mongolian contender is a large and physically imposing featherweight with considerable strength and durability.
“He was big and solid,” Kim recalled. “My biggest memory is how physically strong he felt.”
Chagnaadorj earned his place in the semifinals with a split-decision victory and carries an 11-2 professional record into the matchup.
Jung Won Lee Breaks Down the Matchup
Havas MMA head coach Jung Won Lee believes the upcoming fight presents a unique challenge for Song.
Although Chagnaadorj is known for his wrestling background, Lee noted that recent performances have shown a more striking-oriented approach. He described the Mongolian prospect as a physically aggressive fighter who often relies on toughness and pressure rather than technical precision.
Lee pointed out that the opponent can be difficult to prepare for because of his unpredictability.
Rather than following a structured game plan, Chagnaadorj often throws punches from unusual angles and continues moving forward regardless of the damage he absorbs.
The coaches emphasized that Song must avoid assuming the fight will end with a single clean shot.
Instead, they believe preparation should focus on dealing with an opponent who remains dangerous even when hurt.
“He keeps coming forward,” Kim said during the breakdown. “You have to prepare for the possibility that he takes your best shots and continues walking.”
Why Song May Have the Edge
Despite their respect for the Mongolian prospect, both analysts expressed confidence in Song’s chances.
Lee suggested that stylistically the matchup could be more favorable than Song’s quarterfinal bout against Jin Aoi.
The coaches highlighted several areas where they believe Song holds advantages, including technical striking, overall fight IQ, and submission skills.
Song showcased those strengths during his Road to UFC opener, recovering from adversity before securing a second-round rear-naked choke victory over Aoi.
Both coaches agreed that while Chagnaadorj’s durability and physicality make him dangerous, Song possesses the tools necessary to reach the final.
Dong Hyun Kim Believes Song Can Become a UFC Fan Favorite
Perhaps the strongest endorsement came when the former UFC welterweight contender discussed Song’s future.
Kim stated that if Song reaches the UFC, he believes fans will quickly embrace his exciting style.
According to Kim, Song’s aggressive approach, finishing ability, and willingness to engage make him the type of fighter who consistently delivers entertaining fights.
He predicted that Song could become the kind of athlete who regularly earns performance bonuses and attracts attention from the organization’s executives.
“If Young Jae Song makes it to the UFC, people are going to love watching him fight,” Kim said.
The praise reflects growing momentum behind one of Korea’s top featherweight prospects as he continues his pursuit of a UFC contract.
Road to UFC Semifinal Looms Large
The Road to UFC Season 5 semifinals are expected to take place on August 28 in Shanghai, where Song will face Dagiisuren Chagnaadorj for a spot in the tournament final. The winner will move one step closer to earning a coveted UFC roster spot.
For now, both Dong Hyun Kim and Jung Won Lee believe the path is there for Song.
The challenge will be navigating a physically rugged opponent while continuing to showcase the exciting style that has already made him one of Korea’s most promising UFC hopefuls.
