PROMOTION OVERVIEW

Zeus Fighting Championship

Zeus FC (ZFC) is a South Korean mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion founded in 2019 by former first-generation Korean MMA fighter Yong Jae Jeon (전용재).

Headquartered in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, the promotion was established to create a structured development system for emerging Korean fighters while providing consistent professional competition outside of Seoul’s larger organizations. Since its inception, Zeus FC has evolved into one of South Korea’s fastest-growing regional promotions, hosting both amateur and professional events through multiple event series.

Unlike many Korean promotions that focus exclusively on professional championship cards, the promotion operates a tiered competition system that includes amateur tournaments, prospect showcases, professional MMA, and even Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu events. This multi-level approach has made the organization an important stepping stone for athletes pursuing careers in larger promotions such as Road FC, Black Combat, and ZFN.

Promotion History

2019–2021: Foundation and Fighter Development

Zeus FC was launched in April 2019 with the objective of giving young Korean fighters regular cage experience before advancing to larger national organizations. Founded by veteran fighter Yong Jae Jeon, the promotion placed a strong emphasis on athlete development rather than simply producing professional fight cards. Early events were held primarily in Cheongju, establishing a regional base while attracting competitors from gyms throughout South Korea.

2022–2024: Expansion of Event Series

As the promotion grew, the promotion expanded beyond standalone MMA events by introducing multiple competition brands tailored to different stages of fighter development.

These included:

  • Ares (professional MMA)
  • Hercules (amateur MMA)
  • Hades (professional prospect series)
  • ZJP (Zeus Jiu-Jitsu Pro League)

This structure enabled fighters to progress from amateur competition through professional MMA while also supporting submission grappling specialists under the same organizational umbrella.

2025–Present: Continued Growth

By 2025 and 2026, Zeus FC had significantly increased its event schedule, regularly promoting professional and amateur competitions at its dedicated venue, Olympos Arena in Cheongju. The promotion continued expanding its roster while strengthening its role as a developmental organization within Korean MMA. Events such as Zeus FC Ares 3, Hades 3, Hercules 7, and the launch of the Zeus Jiu-Jitsu Pro League (ZJP) demonstrated the organization’s broader commitment to combat sports beyond MMA alone.

03

Rules and Format

Zeus FC follows the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts, the same rule set used by the UFC and most major international promotions.

Professional bouts are contested over:

  • Three five-minute rounds
  • Five five-minute rounds for championship contests

Standard weigh-ins are held the day before competition, and all athletes must complete medical examinations prior to competing.

Zeus FC Ares

Ares serves as the promotion’s premier professional MMA series.

These events feature:

  • Established professionals
  • Championship bouts
  • Korean prospects
  • Regional title contenders

Ares represents the highest level of competition within Zeus FC.

Zeus FC Hades

The Hades series focuses on developing newer professional athletes who are transitioning from the amateur ranks or looking to establish themselves before moving into championship competition.

This platform provides valuable cage experience while maintaining competitive matchmaking.

Zeus FC Hercules

Hercules functions as the organization’s amateur MMA league.

Its primary objectives include:

  • Identifying promising prospects
  • Providing structured amateur competition
  • Preparing athletes for professional careers
  • Developing regional talent

Many competitors begin in Hercules before progressing into Hades and eventually Ares.

Zeus Jiu-Jitsu Pro League (ZJP)

Recognizing the growth of submission grappling in Korea, Zeus FC introduced the Zeus Jiu-Jitsu Pro League (ZJP), featuring professional no-gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition. This expansion broadened the organization’s reach beyond MMA while giving grapplers another high-level competitive platform.

Broadcast History

Zeus FC has primarily adopted a digital-first broadcasting model.

Events are promoted through the organization’s official website and distributed via YouTube and social media, allowing fans to watch:

  • Live events
  • Fight highlights
  • Fighter interviews
  • Promotional content
  • Event previews

As the promotion has expanded, it has continued investing in digital production to increase accessibility for fans across South Korea and internationally.

Notable Milestones

Founded in 2019

Established by former Korean MMA pioneer Yong Jae Jeon, Zeus FC was created to strengthen Korea’s fighter development system through consistent amateur and professional competition.

Multi-Tier Development System

Rather than operating only professional events, Zeus FC created a complete athlete pathway consisting of:

  • Hercules (amateur)
  • Hades (professional prospects)
  • Ares (professional championship level)

This structure gives fighters opportunities to progress within a single organization.

Expansion into Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

The introduction of the Zeus Jiu-Jitsu Pro League (ZJP) marked an important expansion beyond MMA, making Zeus FC one of the few Korean promotions to organize both professional MMA and submission grappling under the same banner.

Regional Talent Development

Operating primarily from Cheongju, Zeus FC has become one of South Korea’s leading regional MMA organizations, helping athletes from across the country gain professional experience before moving to larger domestic and international promotions.

Growing Annual Schedule

By 2026, Zeus FC was regularly promoting multiple event series throughout the year—including MMA, amateur MMA, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu—demonstrating its continued growth as a comprehensive combat sports organization.

Legacy

Although younger than organizations such as Road FC and TOP FC, Zeus FC has quickly established itself as an important contributor to South Korea’s MMA ecosystem. Its emphasis on structured athlete development, regional accessibility, and multi-discipline competition has created a clear pathway for aspiring fighters to progress from amateur competition to the professional ranks. Through the Ares, Hades, Hercules, and ZJP series, Zeus FC continues to develop the next generation of Korean combat sports talent while strengthening the country’s grassroots MMA infrastructure.
