Sung Uk Yoon

Overview

Sung Uk Yoon, better known as “Budweiser,” is a South Korean bantamweight representing Cube MMA who has spent most of his professional career competing within Black Combat’s Champions League system.

Sung Uk Yoon currently holds a 3–4 professional record with one no contest. Two of his three victories have come by KO/TKO, while his remaining win came by unanimous decision. Although his official record contains no submission victories, that statistic is slightly misleading: Yoon successfully submitted Hwan Hyun Lee with a guillotine in 2025, only for the result to be overturned to a no contest because Yoon missed weight by 800 grams.

At 5’9″, Yoon has good height for the Korean bantamweight division and has also competed at featherweight. His career has been defined by an aggressive offensive approach, but also inconsistency. Very little verified information is publicly available regarding Sung Uk Yoon’s childhood, date of birth, education or introduction to martial arts.

His competitive MMA history can be traced back to at least 2018, several years before his professional debut.

Sung Uk Yoon competed against future UFC flyweight Hyun Sung Park at Road FC Central League 40 on March 3, 2018. Park defeated Yoon in the amateur contest. Yoon returned four months later at TFC Jiu Jitsu Mall League 30, where he stopped Do Hoon Yeo with ground-and-pound in the second round.

Those early appearances are useful context for Yoon’s professional career. His experience was not built exclusively inside Black Combat; he had already competed through the developmental systems associated with Road FC and TFC before turning professional.

By the time he made his professional debut in 2022, Yoon was representing Cube MMA.

His amateur ground-and-pound finish over Do Hoon Yeo provides another example of his ability to generate damaging offense from top position.

Sung Uk Yoon made his professional MMA debut at GFC 08 on August 13, 2022, facing fellow debutant Hyun Sik Jang in a 150-pound catchweight contest.

The fight went the full two rounds, with Yoon earning a unanimous decision victory.

It remains the only decision victory of his professional career.

Black Combat Debut — Seok Ho Shin

Less than two months later, Sung Uk Yoon entered the Black Combat Champions League.

He faced Seok Ho Shin on October 1, 2022 at bantamweight and produced the first finish of his professional career.

Yoon overwhelmed Shin with elbows, knees and punches, forcing the stoppage at 3:47 of the opening round.

The victory improved Budweiser to 2–0 and immediately established him as an aggressive addition to Black Combat’s bantamweight roster.

Myung Joo Lee

Sung Uk Yoon returned on December 3, 2022 against Myung Joo Lee.

This time, the grappling exchanges worked against him.

Lee caught Yoon in a heel hook at 2:58 of Round 1, handing Budweiser the first professional loss of his career.

The defeat exposed one of the risks associated with Yoon’s aggressive approach: opponents capable of creating dangerous submission exchanges can punish him quickly.

Sung Jun Park

Sung Uk Yoon’s next appearance came against Sung Jun Park on May 13, 2023.

Park entered with considerably more professional experience and quickly took control of the fight.

Punches forced the stoppage at 1:44 of the opening round, giving Yoon consecutive defeats and dropping his professional record to 2–2.

After beginning his career with two straight victories, Budweiser had suddenly lost twice in less than six months.

Cancelled Flyweight Appearance

Yoon was scheduled to return against Tae Heon Kim on April 27, 2024.

Interestingly, the matchup was booked at flyweight, which would have represented a significant move down from the bantamweight and catchweight divisions where Yoon had previously competed.

The fight was ultimately cancelled.

Yoon instead returned later that year at bantamweight.

Return Against Min Joong Kim

After nearly a year and a half without a completed professional fight, Yoon returned at Black Combat Champions League 24–25: 7th Week on October 19, 2024.

He faced professional debutant Min Joong Kim.

Unlike Yoon’s earlier victories, this fight required patience.

The matchup reached the third round before Budweiser finally broke through. Yoon finished Kim with punches just 31 seconds into Round 3, snapping his two-fight losing streak and improving his record to 3–2.

It was an important performance because Yoon demonstrated that his finishing ability was not limited to explosive opening-round exchanges.

Featherweight Move — Jun Ho Hwang

Sung Uk Yoon moved up to featherweight for his next appearance against Jun Ho Hwang on February 22, 2025.

The fight lasted all three rounds.

Hwang ultimately earned a unanimous decision, dropping Yoon to 3–3.

Although unsuccessful, it marked the first time since Yoon’s professional debut that one of his fights had reached the judges’ scorecards.

Hwan Hyun Lee — The Win That Became a No Contest

Sung Uk Yoon returned to bantamweight against Hwan Hyun Lee on June 7, 2025.

Inside the fight, he delivered.

Yoon caught Lee in a guillotine choke at 3:29 of the second round, seemingly giving Budweiser the first submission victory of his professional career.

But there was a problem.

Sung Uk Yoon had missed weight by 800 grams.

Because of the weight miss, the result was officially recorded as a no contest, leaving Yoon’s professional record at 3–3 rather than 4–3.

The fight remains significant when evaluating his actual skill set. Regardless of the official record, Yoon demonstrated that he possesses a legitimate submission threat.

DOMVS 13 — Seung Mu Cheon

After approximately one year away from professional competition, Sung Uk Yoon returned on June 6, 2026 at DOMVS 13.

He faced Seung Mu Cheon in what became his first recorded professional appearance outside Black Combat since his 2022 debut.

The fight ended suddenly.

Cheon caught Yoon with a spinning backfist at 2:46 of the opening round, producing a knockout/TKO stoppage.

The defeat dropped Yoon’s professional record to 3–4 with one no contest.

It also continued an inconsistent stretch in which Budweiser has alternated between demonstrating legitimate finishing ability and suffering decisive losses.
