Han Dong Hoon leads South Korea to victory in the unique team elimination format as the next generation of Asian MMA prospects shines in Pyeongtaek.
High School Emperor Season 4 ASIA delivered one of the most unique amateur MMA events of the year on August 1 at Pyeongtaek International University’s Creative Hall, where South Korea emerged victorious over China in the championship of the inaugural four-nation international tournament.
As HanPunch previously reported, High School Emperor has become one of South Korea’s premier amateur MMA development platforms, designed to showcase elite high school-aged prospects before they transition into the professional ranks. Season 4 ASIA marked the organization’s most ambitious event to date by welcoming teams from South Korea, China, Mongolia, and Team Asia into a new international competition.
Unlike traditional team competitions, the event featured a 4 vs. 4 “Death Match” elimination format. Each nation entered four fighters, with the winning athlete remaining inside the cage to face the next opponent until one team’s entire roster had been eliminated. The format rewarded endurance, adaptability, and composure under pressure while creating constant momentum throughout the team battle.
Han Dong Hoon Carries South Korea to the Championship
After South Korea and China exchanged early victories, senior prospect Han Dong Hoon produced the tournament’s defining performance.
Following wins by Bao Lei Zhu and Ji Won Kang, Han Dong Hoon entered the cage and defeated three consecutive Chinese opponents to secure the championship for South Korea.
His remarkable run included:
- Submission (Triangle Choke) over Ashaer at 2:07 of Round 1
- Unanimous Decision (3-0) over Hu Jin Jie
- TKO (Ground and Pound) over Meng Xiangao at 1:50 of Round 1
The three-fight streak completed a 4-2 overall victory for South Korea in the championship match and highlighted Han Dong Hoon as one of the tournament’s breakout performers.

Team Asia Earns Third Place
The third-place match featured Mongolia against Team Asia.
Team Asia secured a 3-1 victory, with one scheduled Mongolian competitor unable to compete due to injury.
