Cube MMA
Founded in 2012, Cube MMA (큐브MMA) is a mixed martial arts academy located in Daechi-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, one of South Korea’s most active combat sports districts.
Since its establishment, the gym has built a reputation for technical instruction, disciplined coaching, and developing well-rounded mixed martial artists capable of competing at both the amateur and professional levels.
Cube MMA offers a complete martial arts curriculum that includes MMA, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling, boxing, kickboxing, and strength and conditioning. While the academy has produced numerous professional competitors, it also welcomes beginners and recreational practitioners, creating a training environment where hobbyists and elite athletes work side by side. This balanced approach has made Cube MMA one of Seoul’s most respected independent MMA academies.
The gym has consistently supplied fighters to Korean promotions such as Black Combat, ROAD FC, Angel’s Fighting Championship (AFC), Double G FC, and other domestic organizations. Its athletes are known for their technical striking, intelligent fight management, and well-rounded skill development.
Coaching Staff
Hyeong Gwang Kim (김형광) – Owner & Head Coach
Cube MMA is led by Hyeong Gwang Kim, the academy’s founder and head coach. Widely respected by both competitors and recreational students, Kim has built the gym around a philosophy of patient technical instruction, continuous improvement, and creating a welcoming training environment. Students frequently praise his ability to coach athletes of every level, from complete beginners to professional fighters, while maintaining a positive and disciplined gym culture.
Rather than emphasizing one particular martial art, Coach Kim encourages complete MMA development by integrating striking, wrestling, grappling, conditioning, and tactical decision-making into every stage of a fighter’s progression. This holistic approach has become a defining characteristic of Cube MMA’s training system.
Team History
Cube MMA opened its doors in 2012 with the goal of providing comprehensive mixed martial arts instruction in Seoul. Located in Gangnam’s Daechi neighborhood, the academy quickly established itself as a destination for athletes seeking technical coaching rather than purely competition-focused training. From the beginning, the gym emphasized long-term athlete development, combining high-level instruction with an inclusive atmosphere that welcomed members of all experience levels.
Over the years, Cube MMA has steadily expanded its presence on the Korean regional MMA scene. Fighters representing the academy have competed across many of South Korea’s leading promotions, helping the gym earn a reputation for producing disciplined and technically polished competitors. While it may not be among Korea’s largest teams, Cube has consistently developed professional athletes who compete against many of the country’s top prospects.
