UFC 330 delivered a historic night at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia as Islam Makhachev successfully defended his welterweight championship against Ian Machado Garry and established the longest winning streak in UFC history.
Makhachev defeated Garry by unanimous decision with scorecards of 49 to 46, 49 to 46 and 48 to 47. The victory moved the Russian to 17 consecutive UFC wins, taking him past Anderson Silva’s previous record of 16 victories in a row.
The event also produced several memorable performances across the card, including Jalin Turner’s explosive knockout, Dustin Stoltzfus’ submission victory and an emotional farewell from veteran Edson Barboza.
Islam Makhachev survives Garry test and makes UFC history
Islam Makhachev entered UFC 330 looking to defend the welterweight championship for the first time after moving up from lightweight and winning the 170 pound title against Jack Della Maddalena.
Garry presented a very different challenge. The Irish contender used his size, kicking game and improved defensive wrestling to make Makhachev work throughout the five round contest.
The champion controlled much of the fight with his wrestling and pressure. He repeatedly took Garry down and forced him to fight from the fence, although the challenger consistently worked his way back to his feet.
Makhachev’s biggest moment came in the second round when he landed a huge head kick that dropped Garry. He followed the knockdown with ground control and briefly threatened a D’Arce choke.
Garry responded strongly in the third and fourth rounds, landing effective kicks and defending several takedown attempts. Makhachev eventually secured another takedown in the final round and controlled Garry from the back to close out the fight.
The result was unanimous, giving Makhachev his 17th straight UFC victory and another major milestone in his career.
Mackenzie Dern retains strawweight championship
Mackenzie Dern successfully defended her UFC women’s strawweight title for the first time by defeating Gillian Robertson via unanimous decision.
The judges scored the fight 49 to 46, 49 to 46 and 48 to 47 for Dern. Dern controlled much of the contest with her grappling and positional work while Robertson struggled to create sustained offense. The champion also came close to securing a rear naked choke during the opening round.
Robertson improved in the final round, but Dern had already done enough to secure the decision and remain champion. A future matchup with former champion Zhang Weili could now become one of the biggest fights available in the strawweight division.
Jalin Turner scores one of the night’s fastest finishes
Jalin Turner produced one of the most spectacular moments of UFC 330 when he stopped Kauê Fernandes just 39 seconds into their lightweight contest.
Turner dropped Fernandes with a powerful left hand before finishing the fight with ground and pound. The victory marked Turner’s second consecutive first round knockout and strengthened his case for a return to the lightweight rankings.
Dustin Stoltzfus submits Mansur Abdul Malik
Dustin Stoltzfus bounced back from consecutive defeats with a dramatic submission victory over Mansur Abdul Malik.
The middleweight contest featured heavy exchanges before Stoltzfus rocked Abdul Malik and took the fight to the ground. He then secured a rear naked choke at 4:25 of the second round. The victory was Stoltzfus’ first since November 2024.
Edson Barboza retires after defeat
One of the most emotional moments of UFC 330 came when Edson Barboza announced his retirement following a second round TKO loss to Esteban Ribovics.
Ribovics repeatedly hurt Barboza with his striking before referee Herb Dean stopped the contest at 1:32 of the second round.
Barboza then placed his gloves on the canvas and confirmed the end of his career. The 40 year old Brazilian finishes his professional MMA career with a 24 and 15 record and leaves behind one of the most memorable highlight reels in UFC history, including his famous wheel kick knockout of Terry Etim.
