Team MAD
Team MAD (팀매드), formerly known as Busan Team MAD, is one of South Korea’s premier mixed martial arts gyms and has established itself as one of the country’s leading development centers for professional MMA athletes. Based in Busan, the gym provides training in mixed martial arts, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling, boxing, Muay Thai, and strength and conditioning while welcoming everyone from beginners to elite professional competitors.
Over the past decade, the team has earned a reputation for consistently producing high-level talent capable of competing across Korea’s top MMA promotions and on the international stage. Fighters representing the team have competed in organizations including ROAD FC, ZFN, Black Combat, ONE Championship, and the UFC, making the gym one of the most recognizable names in Korean MMA.

Coaching Staff
Team MAD is led by Head Coach Seong Hoon Yang, one of South Korea’s most respected MMA coaches. Over the years, Yang has earned a reputation for developing both amateur and professional athletes through a structured coaching philosophy that emphasizes technical fundamentals, discipline, and continuous improvement.
Beyond coaching the team’s professional fighters, Yang has become well known within the Korean MMA community through educational content and interviews published on Coach Yang TV, where he frequently discusses fighter development, coaching philosophy, and the domestic MMA scene. His influence extends beyond the team itself, making him one of the most recognizable coaches in Korean mixed martial arts.
Working alongside additional coaching staff and training partners, Team MAD provides instruction across striking, grappling, wrestling, and mixed martial arts while supporting athletes competing at both domestic and international levels.
Team History
Public information regarding the early founding of Team MAD is limited. The gym originally operated under the name Busan Team MAD before later adopting the shorter Team MAD brand that it uses today.
Under the leadership of head coach Yang Seong Hoon, Team MAD has steadily grown into one of South Korea’s most successful mixed martial arts academies. Rather than focusing solely on experienced professionals, the gym has built a reputation for developing athletes from the amateur level through to major professional promotions.
As Korean MMA has continued to expand, Team MAD has remained a consistent presence across the domestic scene. Fighters from the gym regularly compete in organizations including ROAD FC, ZFN, Black Combat, and other Korean promotions while several athletes have progressed to international competition.
Today, Team MAD is widely recognized as one of the country’s premier MMA teams and continues to play a significant role in developing the next generation of Korean mixed martial artists.
