Extreme Combat
Extreme Combat (익스트림 컴뱃), also known as Extreme Fitness Combat Training Center, is one of South Korea’s longest-established mixed martial arts academies.

Based in Hwajeong, Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, the gym has produced professional competitors for more than two decades and has built a reputation as one of the country’s premier development gyms outside of Seoul. The academy offers comprehensive training in mixed martial arts, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling, Muay Thai, boxing, and physical conditioning for everyone from beginners to elite professionals. The gym is also the flagship location of the broader Extreme Combat network, which includes affiliated academies such as Han Gym in Geoje and Crazy Kwang Gym in Cheonan.
Throughout its history, Extreme Combat has consistently developed athletes who compete in organizations including Road FC, Black Combat, Angel’s Fighting Championship, Gladiator, Heat, DEEP, and numerous regional promotions. The gym has become particularly well known for producing technically complete fighters with strong wrestling fundamentals and aggressive finishing ability.
Coaching Staff

Extreme Combat has historically operated under a collaborative coaching structure rather than promoting a single head coach publicly. While the academy’s official channels emphasize the entire coaching team, several notable figures have been associated with the organization over the years:
- Founding coaching staff helped establish Extreme Combat as one of the earliest dedicated MMA gyms in Goyang.
- Han Geun Lee serves as Head Coach of the affiliated Han Gym branch within the Extreme Combat network and represents the organization’s coaching philosophy outside the flagship academy.
- Coaches within the network oversee instruction across:
- Mixed Martial Arts
- Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
- Wrestling
- Boxing
- Muay Thai
- Strength & Conditioning
Rather than relying on celebrity coaches, Extreme Combat has traditionally focused on developing athletes through a structured team environment where fighters train across multiple disciplines under specialized instructors.
Team History
Extreme Combat was established during the formative years of Korean mixed martial arts, when dedicated MMA gyms were still relatively uncommon. Located in Hwajeong, Goyang, the academy quickly became one of the region’s leading training centers and helped expand the sport beyond Seoul’s traditional fight hubs.
During the late 2000s and early 2010s, the gym began producing professional competitors on a consistent basis, earning recognition through appearances in domestic organizations before many athletes progressed to larger Korean and international promotions.
One of the academy’s earliest standout professionals was Jae Seok Lim, whose success helped establish Extreme Combat as a respected source of high-level MMA talent. Over the following decade, the team continued producing experienced professionals while expanding its network of affiliated gyms across South Korea.
In recent years, Extreme Combat has remained highly active in the Korean MMA scene. Fighters such as:
- Jae Woong Kim
Chang Ho Lee
Myung Hwan Kim
Dong Gyu Kim
Min Hyuk Lee
Gwan Woo Lim
have continued representing the academy across major domestic promotions, helping maintain the gym’s reputation as one of Korea’s most consistent producers of professional talent.
Today, Extreme Combat continues to balance competitive athlete development with recreational martial arts instruction. Through its flagship academy and affiliated branches, it remains an influential part of the Korean MMA landscape, emphasizing disciplined technical training, continuous athlete development, and a strong team culture that has endured for more than two decades.
