Black Combat Official Gym
The Black Combat Official Gym is the flagship training facility of South Korea’s rapidly growing MMA promotion, Black Combat. Located in Bucheon, Gyeonggi-do, the gym serves as both a public martial arts academy and the primary training headquarters for many of the organization’s professional athletes. Unlike traditional MMA gyms that operate independently from promotions, Black Combat Official Gym functions as an extension of the promotion’s identity, combining fighter development, fan engagement, and content creation under one roof.
Situated just outside Songnae Station, the facility offers structured training programs for beginners, hobbyists, and aspiring professional fighters. Students have access to instruction in mixed martial arts, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling, kickboxing, cage-specific MMA techniques, personal training, and fitness-focused programs. The academy emphasizes practical MMA instruction rather than individual martial arts disciplines in isolation, reflecting the philosophy of the Black Combat promotion itself.
The gym has become closely associated with several recognizable Black Combat athletes, including Viper (Sung Woong Kim) and Tae Gyun Kim, both of whom regularly prepare for competition under the guidance of the coaching staff. Black Combat founder and CEO Pyeong Hwa Park also trains and coaches at the facility, making the headquarters an active center for both athlete preparation and promotional operations.
Beyond producing professional competitors, Black Combat Official Gym has developed a reputation for its modern training environment and strong community culture. Members train alongside professional fighters, while the facility frequently appears in Black Combat’s YouTube content, documentaries, promotional videos, and reality-based programming. This level of media integration has helped make the gym one of the most recognizable MMA academies in South Korea among younger fans and international audiences following the promotion’s growth.
Coaching Staff
Hyo Jun Choi — Head Coach
Hyo Jun Choi serves as the head coach of Black Combat Official Gym and oversees the technical development of many of the organization’s professional athletes. His coaching responsibilities include striking, grappling integration, fight strategy, and competition preparation for Black Combat events.
Among the fighters who have trained under Choi are notable Black Combat competitors such as Viper (Sung Woong Kim) and Tae Gyun Kim, with the gym continuing to serve as a regular training base for athletes competing throughout the promotion. His coaching focuses on developing complete mixed martial artists capable of transitioning effectively between striking, wrestling, and ground fighting while adapting to the evolving demands of modern MMA competition.
Pyeong Hwa Park — Founder, CEO & Trainer
In addition to leading the Black Combat promotion, Pyeong Hwa Park remains actively involved in daily training at the Official Gym. Rather than operating solely as an executive, Park continues to coach classes, mentor athletes, and participate in fighter development alongside the gym’s coaching staff.
His hands-on involvement reflects Black Combat’s philosophy of maintaining close relationships between management, coaches, and athletes. Park is frequently seen cornering fighters during Black Combat events while also appearing in the gym’s instructional content, promotional videos, and documentary series.
Together, Hyo Jun Choi and Pyeong Hwa Park have helped establish Black Combat Official Gym as one of South Korea’s most recognizable MMA training facilities, combining professional coaching, athlete development, and media production within a single organization.
Team History
Black Combat Official Gym was established as the flagship academy of the Black Combat organization following the promotion’s launch in 2022. Rather than simply serving as another affiliated MMA gym, the academy was created to support the promotion’s long-term vision of developing Korean mixed martial arts through athlete development, professional coaching, and direct engagement with the next generation of fighters.
As Black Combat rapidly expanded into one of Korea’s fastest-growing MMA promotions, the headquarters evolved into the primary training base for numerous contracted athletes. Fighters preparing for Black Combat title bouts, tournament appearances, and international competitions have regularly completed training camps at the facility, making it an important part of the organization’s competitive infrastructure.
The gym has also become an extension of the promotion’s media presence. Training sessions, behind-the-scenes content, athlete interviews, and promotional series are frequently filmed inside the facility, allowing fans to follow fighters throughout their preparation rather than only on fight night. This integration between competition and digital content has become one of Black Combat’s defining characteristics and has helped distinguish the promotion from more traditional Korean organizations.
Today, Black Combat Official Gym represents more than a local martial arts academy. It serves as the operational headquarters for one of Korea’s most influential modern MMA brands, functioning as a training center, talent development system, content studio, and community hub for both amateur practitioners and professional fighters.
