ROAD GYM Wonju is one of the longest-established mixed martial arts gyms in Gangwon Province and has become one of the region’s best-known training centers for MMA, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, boxing, and general fitness. Located in Wonju, South Korea, the gym operates as both a competitive fight team and a community fitness facility, offering programs ranging from professional MMA to youth martial arts and recreational training.
The gym has developed a reputation through its close association with ROAD FC, producing fighters who have competed on Korea’s biggest MMA stage while helping grow combat sports throughout the Wonju region. In addition to MMA and BJJ, ROAD GYM Wonju offers boxing, strength and conditioning, yoga, spinning, and personal training, making it one of the city’s largest multi-discipline combat sports facilities.

Team History

ROAD GYM Wonju emerged alongside the rapid growth of Korean mixed martial arts during the rise of ROAD FC in the early 2010s.
Based in Wonju—the hometown of ROAD FC founder Moon Hong Jung‘s promotion—the gym developed into one of Gangwon Province’s premier MMA academies. Its athletes became regular competitors on ROAD FC events, helping establish Wonju as one of Korea’s recognizable regional MMA hubs.
The gym is perhaps best known internationally as the longtime home of Soo Chul Kim, one of Korea’s most accomplished bantamweights. Kim captured championships in both ONE Championship and ROAD FC, becoming one of the country’s most successful fighters while continuing to represent ROAD GYM throughout his professional career.
Over the years, ROAD GYM WONJU has expanded beyond producing professional fighters into a full-service martial arts academy. Its programs now include:
