PROMOTION OVERVIEW

High School Emporer

High School Emperor (고교천왕) is a South Korean amateur mixed martial arts reality series that showcases some of the country’s most promising high school-aged fighters.

Produced for YouTube, the series combines documentary storytelling, competitive tournaments, and athlete development while highlighting the next generation of Korean MMA talent.

Unlike traditional professional MMA promotions, High School Emperor serves as a developmental platform where young athletes compete under structured tournament formats while building their personal brands through behind-the-scenes content, training camps, and interviews. Since its launch in 2023, the series has become one of Korea’s most recognizable youth MMA projects and has helped introduce several prospects to a wider audience.

Promotion History

Season 1 (2023)

High School Emperor debuted in 2023 with a straightforward tournament concept designed to identify Korea’s best high school MMA fighters. The inaugural season focused on introducing competitors, documenting their backgrounds, and following their progression through elimination bouts.

The first season established the program’s identity as both a competition and a documentary series, emphasizing discipline, sportsmanship, and athlete development rather than entertainment alone.

Season 2 – Dream of Stage (2024)

The second season expanded the production significantly under the subtitle Dream of Stage.

Production quality improved with more cinematic storytelling, expanded fighter profiles, and greater emphasis on personal journeys outside the cage. The season also attracted increased attention from Korea’s MMA community as fighters competed for recognition and future professional opportunities.

Season 3 – King of School (2025)

The third season, King of School, further evolved the brand by increasing the competitive stakes and placing greater emphasis on identifying the nation’s top high school fighter.

By this point, High School Emperor had established itself as one of Korea’s premier amateur MMA platforms, gaining recognition for producing polished content while continuing to spotlight emerging talent.

Season 4 – Asia Four Nations Tournament (2026)

Season 4 marked the promotion’s biggest evolution to date by expanding into international competition.

Held on August 1, 2026, at Kookje University in Pyeongtaek, South Korea, the tournament featured national teams representing:

  • South Korea
  • China
  • Mongolia
  • Team Asia (combined Asian representatives)

Rather than focusing solely on individual championships, the season introduced a national team format, with countries competing head-to-head for regional supremacy.

03

Rules and Format

While individual seasons have introduced different tournament structures, the series generally follows a consistent competitive format:

  • High school-aged amateur MMA athletes compete in tournament-style brackets.
  • Fighters advance through elimination rounds toward a championship.
  • Competition is divided by appropriate weight classes.
  • Episodes feature athlete introductions, training footage, interviews, and behind-the-scenes content alongside the fights.
  • Winners advance based on official bout results until a season champion is crowned.

Unlike professional organizations, the emphasis extends beyond winning fights. The series focuses heavily on athlete growth, mentality, preparation, and the challenges young competitors face balancing school, training, and competition.
