Usman Nurmagomedov Reportedly Set for UFC Move as PFL Negotiating Window Nears End

Usman Nurmagomedov is reportedly targeting a move to the UFC as his PFL exclusive negotiating window approaches its expiration.

The undefeated lightweight champion is reportedly preparing to enter the UFC after his exclusive negotiating period with the PFL expires, potentially adding another Nurmagomedov to the Octagon.

The UFC’s lightweight division could be preparing for one of its biggest additions in years.

Undefeated former Bellator and PFL lightweight champion Usman Nurmagomedov is reportedly expected to pursue a move to the UFC once his exclusive negotiating period with the Professional Fighters League expires at the end of October.

The 22–0 lightweight has completed his contractual fight obligations with the PFL and is approaching the conclusion of a reported 90-day exclusive negotiating window. According to reports, Nurmagomedov has already decided that the UFC is his preferred destination, although no agreement has been officially announced.

UFC CEO Dana White has acknowledged the promotion’s interest in signing the undefeated Russian, opening the possibility of another member of the Nurmagomedov family joining the world’s largest MMA organization.

If negotiations progress as anticipated, Nurmagomedov could become an immediate contender in one of the UFC’s most competitive divisions.

A New Chapter After Bellator and PFL

Nurmagomedov has spent much of his professional career establishing himself as one of the most accomplished lightweight fighters outside the UFC.

The Dagestan native captured the Bellator lightweight championship in November 2022 with a dominant unanimous decision victory over Patricky Pitbull. He subsequently defended his position among the division’s elite while continuing to build his undefeated record.

Following the PFL’s acquisition of Bellator, Nurmagomedov remained one of the organization’s most prominent champions.

His most recent appearance came against Archie Colgan, extending his professional record to 22 victories without a defeat.

At 28 years old, Nurmagomedov now appears positioned to enter the next phase of his career during his athletic prime.

Unlike many prospects entering the UFC, he would arrive with championship experience, extensive five-round preparation, and victories over established international competition.

Reportedly Turned Down a $2 Million PFL Offer

One of the most significant developments surrounding Nurmagomedov’s future involves the financial terms reportedly offered by the PFL.

According to MMA Mania, Nurmagomedov declined a contract proposal reportedly worth more than $2 million per fight to remain with the organization.

If accurate, the decision would suggest that competing in the UFC carries greater importance to Nurmagomedov than securing the largest immediate financial offer.

The UFC would provide an opportunity to test himself against a deeper collection of internationally ranked lightweights and pursue a championship that has remained outside his professional résumé.

However, the reported offer and its precise contractual terms have not been independently confirmed by HanPunch.

Nurmagomedov’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz, is expected to play a central role in any negotiations once the PFL’s exclusive negotiating restrictions expire.

Dana White Opens the Door

The possibility of Nurmagomedov joining the UFC has gained additional momentum following comments from Dana White.

White has publicly expressed interest in discussing a potential deal once the fighter is contractually free to negotiate with other promotions.

That distinction remains important.

Although reports have characterized the UFC as Nurmagomedov’s expected destination, there is currently no official announcement confirming that the promotion has signed him.

The expiration of the PFL’s negotiating window would allow formal discussions to move forward, but any agreement would still require both parties to finalize contractual terms.

For now, the reported move remains a developing story rather than a completed signing.

Another Nurmagomedov in the UFC

A potential UFC arrival would also reunite Usman with several familiar faces already associated with the promotion.

His cousin, former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, has remained deeply involved in his development as a coach and mentor.

Khabib’s influence has been evident throughout Usman’s career, particularly in his disciplined approach to training, grappling, and tactical preparation.

Another cousin, Umar Nurmagomedov, has already established himself as a leading contender in the UFC’s bantamweight division.

Usman’s arrival would give the family another opportunity to pursue UFC championship success, this time in the lightweight division once dominated by Khabib.

However, Usman has developed a fighting identity of his own.

While his grappling reflects the Dagestani wrestling tradition, he also possesses a diverse kicking game, effective distance management, and a measured striking approach that separates him stylistically from many of his teammates.

Can Nurmagomedov Compete With the UFC’s Best?

The biggest question surrounding a potential signing is how quickly Nurmagomedov could establish himself among the UFC’s elite lightweights.

The 155-pound division features a demanding collection of established contenders, former champions, and emerging prospects.

Nurmagomedov’s combination of technical striking, positional control, and submission ability would make him an intriguing opponent for virtually anyone in the division.

His undefeated record and championship experience could also justify a significant matchup in his promotional debut.

However, success in Bellator and the PFL does not automatically guarantee the same results against the UFC’s highest-ranked competition.

A matchup against an established top-15 opponent would provide an immediate indication of where Nurmagomedov belongs in the division.

A victory over a highly ranked lightweight could accelerate his path toward title contention, while a more gradual introduction would allow him to adjust to the promotion before facing its biggest names.

When Could Usman Nurmagomedov Make His UFC Debut?

With the PFL’s reported exclusive negotiating period approaching its conclusion, the coming weeks could prove decisive.

If Nurmagomedov reaches an agreement with the UFC shortly after the negotiating window closes, a debut in late 2026 or early 2027 could be possible.

That timeline remains speculative, however, and would depend on the completion of negotiations, his training schedule, medical clearance, and the UFC’s event calendar.

No opponent, date, or event has been officially announced.

For now, Nurmagomedov remains one of the most prominent unsigned possibilities on the UFC’s radar.

With an undefeated record, championship credentials, and the Nurmagomedov family behind him, his potential arrival would introduce another major name into the lightweight title picture.

The remaining question is whether the UFC and Nurmagomedov can reach an agreement once the PFL’s negotiating restrictions expire.
