ONE Championship has confirmed a major lightweight MMA title fight for The Inner Circle 37, with Christian Lee putting his championship on the line against Tye Ruotolo on November 6 at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
The matchup brings together two fighters from prominent martial arts families, but the biggest storyline is the contrasting experience of the two competitors. Lee enters the fight as one of ONE Championship’s most accomplished MMA fighters, while Ruotolo will be competing in only his third professional MMA fight.
Christian Lee Defends ONE Lightweight Championship
Christian Lee enters the contest as the reigning ONE Lightweight MMA World Champion and also holds the ONE Welterweight MMA World Championship.
The 28 year old Singaporean American has spent more than a decade competing for ONE Championship after making his promotional debut in 2015 at just 17 years old. He captured the lightweight championship for the first time in 2019 when he defeated Shinya Aoki in a comeback victory.
Lee has since built one of the strongest records in ONE history. According to the promotion, his professional record stands at 18 – 4, with 17 victories coming by finish. He also holds ONE’s records for most wins, most finishes and most first round finishes.
His most recent fight came against Alibeg Rasulov, whom Lee stopped to successfully defend his lightweight championship. Now he faces perhaps the most unusual challenger of his championship reign.
Tye Ruotolo Makes Huge Jump to MMA Title Shot
Tye Ruotolo has already established himself as one of the world’s leading submission grapplers. The 23 year old is the reigning ONE Welterweight Submission Grappling World Champion, but he has increasingly focused on making the transition to MMA.
That transition has gone perfectly so far. Ruotolo made his ONE MMA debut against Adrian Lee, Christian Lee’s younger brother, at ONE Fight Night 35 in September 2025. Ruotolo submitted Adrian with a rear naked choke in the second round, handing him the first defeat of his professional career.
Ruotolo then faced Shozo Isojima and produced another submission victory, stopping him with a rear naked choke in the second round. That leaves Ruotolo with a 2 – 0 MMA record, both victories coming inside ONE Championship. Now, just two MMA victories into his career, he has been handed a world title opportunity.
Ruotolo Could Make ONE History
The title fight carries significance beyond the Lee family connection. Ruotolo has the opportunity to become the first ONE submission grappling world champion to capture an MMA world championship in the promotion.
He already owns the ONE Welterweight Submission Grappling World Championship. A victory over Lee would therefore immediately make him a world champion in a second combat sport discipline.
ONE has highlighted that Ruotolo’s opportunity comes after he defeated Adrian Lee and then submitted Shozo Isojima in his first two MMA appearances.
The challenge, however, is dramatically different from anything Ruotolo has faced in MMA so far. Lee has fought 22 professional MMA bouts and has competed against elite opponents throughout his ONE career. Ruotolo has only two MMA fights under his belt. That experience gap will be one of the central storylines heading into November 6.
What Other Fights Are on The Inner Circle 37?
At the moment, no other fights have been officially announced. ONE Championship’s announcement confirms Christian Lee vs. Tye Ruotolo as the headline championship bout for November 6 at Lumpinee Stadium. MMA Fighting likewise reports that the full card is still to be announced.
That means there are currently no confirmed co main event or preliminary bouts that should be presented as official. ONE has been announcing The Inner Circle cards individually, so additional fights could be added in the coming weeks.
