Ji Gyeong Kim closes the night with a main-event TKO as four of DOMVS 23’s five fights end inside the opening round.
DOMVS returned to Apgujeong on September 12 with another compact night of action, and the judges were barely needed.
Four of the five fights at DOMVS 23 ended in the first round, including the lightweight main event, where Ji Gyeong Kim stopped Jun Seok Kim in less than three minutes.
The only fight to make it through all three rounds was the card’s lone kickboxing matchup.
Ji Gyeong Kim Stops Jun Seok Kim in Main Event
Ji Gyeong Kim made quick work of the night’s lightweight main event.
Representing Team Geumcheon, Kim faced longtime Kim Dae Hwan MMA fighter Jun Seok Kim and secured the submission at 2:45 of Round 1.
The victory moved Ji Gyeong Kim’s professional record to 6–1 and gave Team Geumcheon a strong finish to the evening after the gym had experienced mixed results earlier on the card.
For a fighter who has now won six of his first seven professional bouts, it was another result that keeps Kim moving forward in South Korea’s lightweight scene.
Hyun Jun Bae Remains Unbeaten
Team Geumcheon’s other appearance came in a 95 kg catchweight bout, where Ju Eon Lee faced undefeated prospect Hyun Jun Bae.
This time, Team Geumcheon found itself on the other side of a first-round stoppage.
Bae, representing SSMA Sangseung Dojang Hosu, stopped Lee via TKO at 3:08 of Round 1, improving his professional record to 2–0.
Young Sang Park Keeps His Unbeaten Record Intact
The finishes continued at 65.5 kg.
Young Sang Park of Checkmat took on Min Woo Kim and found the finish late in the opening round, ending the contest at 4:18.
The victory allowed Park to maintain his undefeated record while adding another first-round finish to a night where fights rarely reached the horn.
Sung Mo Kang Wins Night’s Only Decision
The pace changed for the card’s lone kickboxing contest.
At a 72 kg catchweight, Sung Mo Kang and Ju Sung Kim battled through all three rounds before the result was left to the judges.
Kang ultimately earned the victory by majority decision, making the kickboxing matchup the only fight at DOMVS 23 to go the distance.
Every MMA bout on the card ended in the first round.
Min Gyu Yoo Scores Fastest Finish in Professional Debut
The quickest stoppage of DOMVS 23 belonged to a debuting fighter.
Min Gyu Yoo and Sung Eun Jang both entered their 58 kg catchweight contest making their professional debuts, but they did not need much time to produce a result.
Yoo stopped Jang via TKO just 1:56 into Round 1, earning his first professional victory and recording the fastest finish of the event.
A Quick Night in Apgujeong
DOMVS 23 ultimately featured just one fight that required the judges.
Min Gyu Yoo needed 1:56 to win his professional debut. Ji Gyeong Kim, Hyun Jun Bae and Young Sang Park all followed with opening-round stoppages of their own, while Sung Mo Kang took the card’s lone decision victory.
For Ji Gyeong Kim, the night ended with another win added to a growing résumé. Now 6–1, the Team Geumcheon lightweight walked out of Apgujeong having delivered the final finish on a night defined by them.
DOMVS is scheduled to continue its weekly Saturday series in Apgujeong with DOMVS 24 next.
