Katie Taylor finally got her night at Croke Park. Conor McGregor was watching and after Ireland’s boxing icon closed out her career in front of roughly 83,000 fans, the former UFC champion made it clear he hasn’t forgotten about his own stadium ambitions.

And Conor McGregor couldn’t resist imagining what might come next.
Taylor brought her legendary career to an end Saturday night in Dublin, defeating Flora Pili by unanimous decision before approximately 83,000 fans at Croke Park. The victory sent the 40-year-old into retirement with a 26–1 professional record and provided the Irish boxing icon with the homecoming that had eluded her for much of her career.
Taylor left her gloves in the ring afterward.
McGregor, however, wasn’t quite ready to let her go.
“Katie Taylor, let’s do ONE MORE FOR THE MAC 😉 🇮🇪 🏟️,” McGregor wrote on social media following the event.
He followed with hashtags including #GoAgainKatie and #RetirementPostponed, encouraging Taylor to reconsider a retirement she had just made official.
Then came a much shorter message.
“McGregor Taylor Muhammad Ali.”
Three names. One stadium.
And potentially a glimpse at an ambition McGregor still hasn’t abandoned.
Taylor Finally Gets Her Croke Park Night
For Taylor, Saturday represented something much bigger than another championship fight.
Croke Park had long been associated with the idea of bringing Ireland’s greatest modern boxer home for a stadium event. This time, it finally happened.
Taylor entered the ring for the final time and defeated the previously unbeaten Pili by unanimous decision, closing a career that included Olympic gold, undisputed championships in multiple divisions and some of the biggest fights in women’s boxing history.
The setting made the farewell even more significant.
Croke Park occupies a unique place in Irish sporting culture, but it also has combat-sports history.
Muhammad Ali fought Alvin Lewis there in 1972.
More than five decades later, Taylor added her name to that history.
McGregor appears interested in adding another.

McGregor’s post doesn’t constitute a fight announcement.
There is currently no confirmed UFC event involving McGregor at Croke Park, and his three-name message offered no opponent, date or concrete proposal.
But the location is hardly random.
McGregor has repeatedly discussed the possibility of fighting in a major stadium event in Ireland during his career. Seeing Taylor walk into a packed Croke Park and produce one of the biggest nights in Irish combat sports gave him a very visible example of what such a homecoming could look like.
His reaction appeared to contain a little of both sides of McGregor.
There was the Irish fighter celebrating Taylor and asking one of his country’s greatest athletes to give the public one more night.
And then there was the promoter in him.
The showman.
The man looking at 80,000-plus people inside Croke Park and seemingly thinking about what it would look like with him walking toward the ring or Octagon instead.
“McGregor Taylor Muhammad Ali” doesn’t tell us that fight is happening.
It does tell us McGregor is thinking about the company he’d like to keep.
Croke Park Remains an Unfinished Part of the McGregor Story
McGregor’s own fighting future remains uncertain following his most recent UFC appearance.
That makes any discussion of venue or opponent premature. There are considerably more immediate questions surrounding when McGregor will compete again before anyone can realistically begin discussing where that fight could happen.
But that’s also why his reaction to Taylor’s farewell is interesting.
This wasn’t a promoter floating McGregor’s name for a hypothetical stadium show.
It was McGregor himself watching another Irish combat-sports superstar accomplish something he has long discussed and then placing his name alongside hers.
Taylor got the ending.
A packed Croke Park. A victory. Her gloves left behind in the ring.
For McGregor, the stadium may represent something different.
Not an ending yet.
Perhaps one last destination.
