The former LFC and AFC welterweight champion brings a decorated career to Black Combat with one goal in mind—sharing the cage with Choo Sung Hoon before closing out one of Korea’s most respected MMA careers.
One of the biggest veteran signings in Korean MMA this year is now official.
Former LFC and AFC welterweight champion Myung Ho Bae has signed with Black Combat, adding another accomplished veteran to the promotion’s rapidly growing roster. The announcement was first revealed through Black Combat’s official Instagram account before the promotion released an in-depth interview introducing Bae as its newest welterweight.
The signing immediately generated excitement among Korean MMA fans, many of whom have already begun imagining a potential showdown between Myung Ho Bae and Choo Sung Hoon (Sung Hoon Cho), better known internationally as Sexyama.
A Veteran Still Fighting at a High Level
Myung Ho Bae enters Black Combat riding the momentum of an impressive comeback victory.
On May 9, 2026, he defeated Han Seul Kim via first-round doctor stoppage TKO at just 1:20 of Round 1 under the ZFN banner, the promotion founded by Chan Sung Jung.
The performance reminded fans why Bae has remained one of Korea’s most accomplished welterweights despite never receiving an opportunity to compete inside the UFC.
Throughout his professional career, Bae has competed around the world, fighting for ONE Championship, Dream, DEEP, M-1 Global, LFC, AFC and ZFN while capturing championship belts in both LFC and AFC.
With a professional record of 18-7-1, the Team MAD veteran now begins another chapter in one of Korea’s fastest-growing promotions.
“I Came Here for Choo Sung Hoon”

During his introductory interview, Myung Ho Bae made one thing abundantly clear.
His biggest motivation for signing with Black Combat was the opportunity to fight Choo Sung Hoon.
Bae explained that he has admired Choo throughout his career and has wanted the matchup for years. After calling out the former UFC star while competing under another promotion, he felt the challenge created unnecessary controversy because both fighters belonged to different organizations.
Rather than continuing to pursue the matchup from afar, Bae decided to sign with Black Combat himself.
He described the decision as the “gentlemanly” and “fair” approach, allowing him to challenge Choo from within the same organization instead of from the outside.
Fans Are Already Building the Hype
The possibility of Myung Ho Bae vs. Choo Sung Hoon has already become one of Korean MMA’s hottest talking points.
Within days of the signing announcement, fans began creating promotional fight posters imagining the matchup as a future Black Combat main event.

Adding even more fuel to the speculation, Bae shared one of the fan-made posters on his Instagram Story, acknowledging the excitement surrounding the potential super fight.
Although no official bout has been announced, the matchup has quickly become one of the most requested fights among Black Combat supporters.
If the Dream Fight Doesn’t Materialize

Black Combat CEO posed the question many fans were already asking.
What happens if the fight with Choo never comes together?
Bae’s answer was immediate.
If he cannot secure the dream matchup, his focus will shift toward becoming Black Combat Welterweight Champion.
He praised the current depth of the promotion’s welterweight division, acknowledging the growing number of talented international fighters, but made it clear he believes he can compete with anyone on the roster.
Whether facing a legend or chasing championship gold, Bae intends to prove he still belongs among Korea’s elite.
From Wolverine to Logan
One of the interview’s lighter moments came when Bae discussed the nickname that has followed him throughout his career.
For years, fans have known him as “Wolverine.”
Now, however, he feels another name better represents the stage of life he has entered.
Inspired by the film Logan, Bae explained that Wolverine symbolized his younger, more aggressive years, while Logan represents a seasoned veteran pursuing one final meaningful chapter.
The Black Combat CEO joked that the promotion’s production team may ultimately decide whether fans continue calling him Wolverine or officially introduce the “Logan” era.
Black Combat Is Where He Wants to Finish His Career

As the interview drew to a close, the conversation became noticeably more emotional.
Bae admitted that fighting has defined nearly his entire life, and he hopes Black Combat becomes the final home of his professional career.
Rather than simply retiring, he wants to leave the sport remembered as an honorable athlete who represented Korean MMA with professionalism and integrity.
His comments reflected the mindset of a veteran who still believes he has meaningful fights ahead while already thinking about the legacy he hopes to leave behind.
A Farewell Surrounded by Team MAD
Looking further into the future, Bae shared one final dream.
When the day eventually comes to retire, he hopes to make his final walk to the cage alongside 60 to 100 teammates from Team MAD, the gym where he developed into one of Korea’s premier welterweights.
The Black Combat CEO immediately embraced the idea, saying it would make for one of the most memorable retirement entrances the promotion has ever hosted.
Whether that moment arrives after one fight or several more remains to be seen.
A Major Addition to the Black Combat Roster
Myung Ho Bae’s arrival gives Black Combat another respected veteran with championship credentials and international experience.
While he never realized the dream of competing in the UFC, his résumé includes championships in both LFC and AFC, appearances in several of Asia’s top MMA organizations, and a recent statement victory under the ZFN banner.
Now, with Choo Sung Hoon sharing the same promotion, the matchup that once seemed unlikely suddenly feels closer than ever.
If Black Combat can bring the two Korean MMA veterans together, it would instantly become one of the promotion’s biggest attractions. And if not, Myung Ho Bae has already made it clear he has another objective waiting, capturing the Black Combat welterweight championship and writing one final championship chapter to an already distinguished career.
