Former UFC light heavyweight Da Woon Jung will meet ex-PFL heavyweight Mickael Groguhe in the inaugural main event at TFC Dream Center on July 11.
Da Woon Jung now has an opponent for his highly anticipated return to competition. TFC officially announced that the former UFC light heavyweight will headline TFC 22 against former Professional Fighters League (PFL) heavyweight Mickael Groguhe on July 11 at the newly opened TFC Dream Center in Gimpo, South Korea.
The heavyweight main event will serve as the headline attraction for TFC’s first event inside its brand-new TFC Dream Center, marking a significant milestone for one of Korea’s longest-running MMA promotions.
A New Chapter for Da Woon Jung
Da Woon Jung enters TFC 22 as one of the most accomplished fighters in Korean MMA history.
The 33-year-old became South Korea’s 17th UFC fighter when he debuted in 2019 and remains the first and only Korean to compete in the UFC’s light heavyweight division. During his UFC tenure, Jung compiled a 4-4-1 record while earning victories over respected international competition and establishing himself as one of Korea’s hardest hitters.
According to Fight Matrix’s Elo rating system, Jung reached a career-high rating of 2,938, trailing only UFC legends Chan Sung Jung and Dong Hyun Kim among Korean fighters.
Although he built his career at 205 pounds, Jung will now move up to heavyweight for his return.
Former PFL Veteran Accepts the Challenge
Standing across from Jung will be Mickael Groguhe, a 33-year-old heavyweight representing France and Côte d’Ivoire.
Groguhe previously competed in the Professional Fighters League (PFL), where he went 1-2 against some of the world’s top heavyweight talent.
Ahead of the matchup, Groguhe praised his opponent.
“Da Woon Jung is Korea’s number one MMA fighter.”
Despite recognizing the challenge, Groguhe welcomed the opportunity.
“Of course it will be a difficult fight, but I’m excited to face such a tough opponent inside the cage.”
The heavyweight also believes fans should expect fireworks.
“One of us is going down.”
“We’re going to have a really exciting fight. There will definitely be a knockout, so don’t miss it.”
Heavy Hitters Promise Action
Both fighters have built reputations as finishers.
According to their professional records:
- Da Woon Jung: 73.3% of his victories have come by knockout.
- Mickael Groguhe: 66.7% of his victories have come by knockout.
With two dangerous strikers meeting in a three-round heavyweight contest, the matchup has all the ingredients for an explosive finish.
A Historic Night for TFC
TFC 22 represents more than just another fight card.
The event will officially inaugurate the TFC Dream Center, the promotion’s dedicated MMA venue in Gimpo. It also continues TFC’s legacy as one of Korea’s premier developmental organizations, having produced 16 UFC fighters over the years.
The July 11 card features eight professional bouts and will stream live on the TFC Korea MMA YouTube channel.
